Profhilo for Asian Skin: Why It’s the Busy Woman’s Injectable Skincare
Serums, essences, moisturisers, masks, retinoids, antioxidants, SPF — skincare can almost become a second job.
This is why I often describe Profhilo as “injectable skincare” — and why it has become one of my favourite treatments for busy women who want better skin without changing the shape of their face.
For my Asian and Chinese patients in particular, the goal is often simple: healthier, better-hydrated skin, not a different face.
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is an injectable treatment containing high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid (HA) in stable hybrid cooperative complexes.
Unlike traditional dermal fillers, we are not primarily using it to create cheekbones, replace volume or alter facial proportions. Profhilo is a bioremodelling treatment, designed to improve hydration, elasticity and overall skin quality.
Laboratory studies also suggest that these hybrid HA complexes influence fibroblasts and keratinocytes and stimulate collagen and elastin pathways.
Importantly, we now have clinical data specifically in Chinese women. A recent study of women aged 38–60 demonstrated significant improvements in superficial skin hydration and transepidermal water loss following Profhilo treatment.
Injectable hydration — and potentially a simpler skincare routine
Dehydrated skin often drives us to add more: another hydrating serum, another essence, another mask, another layer of moisturiser.
But sometimes the answer isn’t another bottle.
By improving hydration within the skin, Profhilo can be particularly helpful for patients whose skin feels dry, tight, crepey or persistently dehydrated despite a complicated skincare routine.
It doesn’t replace good topical skincare — and certainly not daily SPF — but it may allow you to simplify your routine. A gentle cleanser, an effective moisturiser, appropriate active ingredients and sunscreen may be all that many patients need.

• Daily sunscreen
For a busy woman, there is something appealing about doing less, but doing it well.
Ten injections — then get on with your day
Using the standard BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) technique, Profhilo requires only five injection points on each side of the face — just 10 injections in total.
The usual initial course is two treatments approximately four weeks apart. After this, I individualise maintenance; in my practice, many patients return approximately every 6–9 months, depending on their skin and response.
That simplicity matters when you are balancing work, family, travel and everything else.
Profhilo vs other skin boosters
There is now a bewildering choice of injectable skin treatments, including Restylane Skinboosters, Rejuran and Juvelook.
They are different products and each has its place. However, many skin-booster and biostimulatory protocols involve numerous small injections across the face and repeated treatment sessions.
For some patients, that is worthwhile. Others simply don’t want dozens of injections or frequent appointments.
Profhilo offers a different proposition: 10 strategically placed injections and relatively straightforward maintenance.
It isn’t about which treatment is “best”. It is about choosing what suits your skin, your goals — and your lifestyle.
Why I like Profhilo for Asian and Chinese skin
Many of my Asian patients aren’t asking for more facial volume or dramatically different contours. They tell me their skin feels drier, looks less luminous or simply doesn’t look as healthy as it used to.
This is where I particularly like Profhilo. The objective is better skin, not a different face.
A recent systematic review found improvements or trends in hydration, elasticity, skin density and laxity following Profhilo treatment. Worldwide post-marketing surveillance has also demonstrated a favourable safety profile, although, like all injectable treatments, temporary swelling, bumps, redness, bruising or tenderness can occur.
For the right patient, the attraction is its simplicity:
Ten injection points
Better-hydrated skin
Less complicated skincare
Then back to your life
Ten injection points. Better-hydrated skin. Less complicated skincare. Then back to your life.
Sometimes the best skincare routine isn’t the one with the most products. It’s the one you actually have time to maintain.
